Cincinnati, OH -  The American Council on Education Women’s Network Ohio (ACE WNO) has selected University of Toledo Associate Vice President Dr. Shanda Gore to be the new state co-chair, effective July 1, 2018.

An affiliate of the American Council on Education, the ACE Women's Network-Ohio (ACE WNO) is a network of women administrators, faculty, and staff from colleges and universities across the state that is dedicated to the professional advancement of women. ACE WNO’s primary mission is to promote the advancement of women into senior administrative positions in higher education and encourage and support the professional development of all women. This mission is accomplished through advocacy, networking, and educational programming.

“I am honored to be selected as the new state co-chair for ACE WNO”, said Dr. Gore. “We need more access to professional development opportunities and, in a number of cases, a better understanding of career paths in higher education.  I am looking forward to working with my great partner and co-chair University of Cincinnati Assistant Professor Dr. Robin Selzer, my wonderful colleagues on the Executive Board, and all of our partnering institutional representatives. We have work to do.”

Dr. Gore further noted that the ACE Women’s Network is one of three identified cornerstones outlined by the national ACE leadership.  The other two areas of focus include the ACE Fellows Program and the Moving the Needle Initiative which is specifically designed to create more diversity in Higher Ed Presidential leadership. The University of Toledo is an institutional member of the ACE organization, is part of the Moving the Needle Initiative, and will be hosting the state-wide 2018 ACE WNO Annual Conference on November 2.  Clink here for 2018 registration information.

Dr. Gore has served ACE WNO as an Executive Board member since 2015, led the state Strategic Planning committee for two years, and became the 2018 State Conference Chair in preparation of leading the ACE WNO Annual Conference planning committee.  She is currently the Associate Vice President for the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women and the Minority Business Development Center at the University of Toledo.  She has held a number of leadership positions at the University of Toledo, oversees the Ohio Development Services Agency Toledo Minority Business Assistance Center Program grant, and teaches the online graduate diversity certificate in the Judith Herb College of Education.  Dr. Gore is also a member of the International Women’s Forum (IWF), the American Association of Access, Equity, and Diversity, and sits on a number of Toledo area boards.
