Viva McCarver is Chief Human Resources Officer at Bowling Green State University. As the CHRO, Viva provides overall direction, strategic planning and leadership for the University’s Human Resources functionalities. Her areas of oversight and responsibility includes benefits and compensation; training and professional development; employee and labor relations; recruitment; records management; EEO & compliance; as well as developing/designing policies, procedures and programs. She serves as a functional member of the President’s Cabinet providing ongoing assistance towards the University’s strategic goals.
Prior to joining BGSU, she served as the Director of Human Resources for NuTek Steel, formerly known as New Technology Steel, a global steel automotive supplier. Mrs. McCarver has over 20 plus years of progressive experience in Management and Human Resources. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and a Master’s in Leadership & Organizational Development from the University of Findlay.
Viva is a co-author of the book titled “Women as Leaders: Strategies for Empowerment & Communication”. She is also a certified professional trainer and coach and a member of the Professional Woman’s Network, an international organization for women coaches, consultants & authors.
